The University of St.Gallen is more than just an educational institution; it is a place of inspiration where thinking is valued and actively promoted.
Acquiring up-to-date knowledge of a given subject enables members of the HSG community to make an important contribution to social and economic progress and further their own personal development. “From insight to impact” is not just our message/motto; rather, it is a promise to the outside world, against which we can be measured. At the same time, it provides motivation and inspiration for those on the inside.
Our values will underpin your personal future development
- HSG promotes a collaborative approach in an open and friendly atmosphere, facilitating respectful and trustful cooperation between both students and the teaching and administrative staff.
- HSG’s comprehensive way of viewing problems leads to future-oriented and integrative solutions.
- HSG is innovative and fair in how it treats other people. Together and through strong commitment, we attain the goals that we set for ourselves.
- Our level of proficiency is primarily shown in reliable and meaningful solutions, which are highly effective.
What is your goal?
The University of St.Gallen provides its students not only with purely technical knowledge but also with a basis for personal development. Think about what kind of profile you want to create on the basis of your interests and skills. Configure your degree course accordingly and plan your way autonomously. For this purpose, we offer not only a wide range of specialist elective courses but further options in contextual studies, such as several foreign languages. Our students can participate in an exchange program with approximately 200 partner universities worldwide. In addition, you can get actively involved in 120 student associations or join the coaching and mentoring programs.
The University of St.Gallen (HSG), Switzerland, was founded as a “Business Academy” in 1898 – in the heyday of St.Gallen embroidery – and offered its first lectures in 1899. The HSG continues to pursue the goal of providing its more than 8,800 students with a practice-oriented education, guided by an integrative view of Management, Economics, Law, Social Sciences, International Affairs, and Computer Science.

Accreditations by EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA underline our commitment to a holistic curriculum that meets the highest academic standards. We aim to develop students both in professional and personal terms by providing them with an education along humanist lines.
The HSG is a bilingual university (German/English)
The HSG is linked up with approximately 200 partner universities worldwide and offers Exchange and Double Degree Programs. At the same time, we are part of the CEMS, PIM, APSIA, and GBSN networks. 35% of students come from foreign countries, from a total of 88 nations worldwide.
