Historical outlines

WE ARE IAAD. SINCE 1978

1978
IAAD. introduces the first Italian post-secondary course in “Automotive Bodywork Architecure,” now “Transportation Design”, the institute’s flagship program made possible through important international partnerships.



2012
IAAD. signs an important strategic partnership with the French group AD Education, an international network in creative and design fields. The opportunity for exchanges among students from the different partner schools multiply.



2013
IAAD.’s three-year bachelor’s programs are officially accredited by MUR (the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research) as Academic Diplomas of the First Level (180 CFA). The new headquarters are inaugurated in the Aurora district, within the Lavazza headquarters, with an area of 3,000 square meters available for teaching, exhibitions, conferences and events.



2017
IAAD. opens another location in Bologna, a city with a strong historical identity and a great hub of cultural, social and university life.



2020
IAAD. takes on a new Managerial Director who, with the support of the AD Education group, plans to expand IAAD.’s growth to an international level while maintaining the values that led it to become one of the best design schools in Italy.



2022
IAAD. launches new post-graduate training courses in both locations and introduces the innovative Bra-Very Bar project at the Milan Furniture Fair. IAAD.’s collaboration with Diversity Lab and Fashion Revolution opens the doors to new areas of research in which design plays a central role.

In our campus you'll find:

  • a pysical and virtual library for consulting texts and magazine, a library for digital design, access to the Material Connexion design platform and to textile collections;
  • multimedia laboratories with capacities ranging from 25 to 31 workstations;
  • model labs with all of the necessary tools to create mock-ups, models and prototypes, with the support of a lab assistant who will guide you;
  • fashion labs with cutting tables, mannequins, sewing machines, fabric samples and all of the tools needed for our courses and projects;
  • photography and VR labs for teaching activities and for the creation of individual projects.

    Scholarships and Funding

    SCHOLARSHIPS FOR BACHELOR’S COURSES

    IAAD. offers first-year students financial aid based on their income, motivation and aptitude.

    The contribution offers partial exemption of the annual tuition fee. The economic qualifications are based on the income and assets of the student’s family.

    Students can email a copy of their valid University ISEE certificate during the application phase, no later than the date of the admission test session they intend to take.

    SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MASTER’S

    IAAD. supports students with scholarships that partially cover their expenses for the Master’s course and with subsidized loans to continue their studies.

    nb: the number of available scholarships is always lower than the demand, so it is important to keep in mind that most scholarships are based on the Commission’s evaluation of certain qualifications, including:

    • personal portfolio;
    • educational qualifications and degrees;
    • professional experience.

    The Commission evaluator will grant available scholarships at her sole discretion.

    IAAD. provides scholarships of 50% of the tuition fee.

    The scholarships will be awarded to candidates who have received their acceptance into the Master’s program by email.
