Since its founding, the University of New Orleans (UNO) has been committed to diversity and inclusion. In 1958, the University of New Orleans opened its doors as the first fully integrated public university in the South. The University has educated students from all 64 Louisiana parishes, all 50 states, and more than 130 countries, bringing together a variety of talented and motivated students to learn, interact and pursue their career goals.
Academic programs offered at UNO prepare students to participate in the global economy. The College of Business Administration boasts an accounting program with an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International accounting accreditation that puts it among the top three percent of programs in the world, and its master's degree program in hospitality and tourism management has a 100 percent industry-specific job placement rate. The College of Engineering offers the only electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering programs in the New Orleans area. The School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering is one of only several in the nation.
