Introduction
A combination of strategic finance and business analytics is required to meet the needs of forward-going businesses wanting to make fact-based decisions in a competitive business landscape.
In this Master's program, you will study strategic finance and business analytics. You will acquire interesting and relevant skills enabling you to work in various management positions in an international business environment.
Admissions
Curriculum
The Master's program in Strategic Finance and Analytics is a two-year program. It leads to the degree of Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration, M. Sc. (Econ. & Bus. Admin.), which is 120 ECTS credits.
The program includes core and advanced specialization studies in finance and language studies as well as a Master's thesis.
The delivery of courses is blended. The program is a combination of on-campus and online studies. Individual course descriptions mention the attendance requirements for the course.
Core studies, 78 ECTS credits
Include courses on strategic finance (42 ECTS credits) and analytics for finance (36 ECTS credits).
Advanced specialization studies, 6 ECTS credits
Include a special course on real options and managerial decision-making.
Language studies, 6 ECTS credits
Excluding English.
Master's thesis, 30 ECTS credits
An advanced research project during the program's fourth semester. The Master's thesis is a part of the advanced specialization studies and requires approximately six months of full-time work.
Program Outcome
After completing the program, you will be familiar with the main theories and concepts of finance and international financial markets. You will become a fact-driven finance professional who understands business processes, analytics, management, and strategies in a global financial environment.
You will acquire:
- competence in business analytics, including skills to choose the correct and relevant tools and techniques for solving business problems; you will be a competent finance professional who can analyze theories and methods in your professional field and apply knowledge in a real-world context using real-world data;
- knowledge of how to apply business research and systematically analyze research problems related to your discipline; you will learn how to produce an academic research report according to the principles of good scientific conduct, which will enable you to continue your studies at the doctoral level;
- skills for critically evaluating the consequences of business decisions from a responsibility perspective;
- a professional network by working with your peers during your studies and by networking with industry representatives during guest lectures; you will likely write your final thesis on a topic of empirical analysis for a business organization.
Scholarships and Funding
Early Bird discount / First academic year
When required to pay a tuition fee, you are offered
- an Early Bird Discount of EUR 6 000
for the first academic year if confirming your place and paying the rest of the tuition fee of EUR 7 500 within 21 days from the date of having received your Certificate of Admission.
Early Bird discount is available in both Regular Admission and Early Admission.
Finland Scholarship / First academic year
When required to pay a tuition fee, you can apply for a Finland Scholarship of
Full cover for a tuition fee + EUR 5 000 for the living costs for the first academic year
The scholarship can be applied for on your application form when applying to the programme.
Finland Scholarship is available only in Regular Admission.
In Regular Admission, there is
- one Finland Scholarship awarded in each programme
Exception: No Finland Scholarship in the Master's Programme in Biorefineries.
The scholarship will be awarded in the order of the highest points received in the evaluation process within the programme among the ones being eligible for the scholarships and having applied for it.
No preliminary statements about anybody's possibility for being awarded a Finland Scholarship or not as it all depends on the other applicants as well.
LUT Scholarship / Second academic year
When required to pay a tuition fee, you are offered
- LUT Scholarship of EUR 6 000
for the second academic year if having completed a minimum of 60 ECTS credits of studies included in the personal study plan during the first academic year.
With LUT Scholarship the tuition fee is EUR 7 500 for the second academic year.
The required ECTS credits will be automatically checked for and they must be included on your Transcript of Records by the end of the first academic year i.e. by 31 July.
