The Master’s programme in Economics (MEcon) offers a comprehensive education in economics. It provides in-depth theoretical and empirical knowledge in order to analyse the social and economic challenges of our time. Data analysis has become a central component of developed economies due to the advance of digitalisation. Hence, over recent years processing and analysing Big Data has become increasingly important. MEcon provides you with the necessary tools to analyse economic policy problems using state-of-the-art methods and to develop successful strategies. You will thus be well prepared for responsible positions when you enter the job market.
MEcon is a full-time programme and designed for a standard study period of three semesters. You will earn 90 ECTS credits. The core studies consist of compulsory subjects and a wide range of core elective and elective courses.
In the compulsory subjects you deepen your knowledge in the core areas of economics and acquire advanced methodological skills. Based on this solid knowledge, you then choose your core elective and elective courses.
The core electives include courses for advanced applications and problem solving. From a wide range of courses, you chose according to your interests and strengths. With your choice of electives, you develop your own study profile. MEcon offers the following specialisation areas:

In the MEcon you can choose courses in both English and German. The core courses are taught in English.
The MEcon offers exclusively to its students the possibility of participating in attractive double degree programme with the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) in Stockholm, Sweden.
Other double degree options are available under the DM2 agreement with ESADE Barcelona, Spain; HEC Paris, France and RSM Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
