Combining generic and specialist financial modules, the MSc Financial Economics programme offers a comprehensive grounding in financial markets and banking from an economics perspective.

Curriculum
Unless indicated otherwise the modules listed for this programme are for students starting in 2023.
The following modules must be taken which are worth 20 credits each unless specified otherwise:

- Economics of Financial Markets
- Financial Econometrics
- Macroeconomics
- Options and Derivatives (10 credits)
- Theory of Finance
- Topics in Money and Banking (10 credits)
- Dissertation (Economics) (60 credits)
Optional modules
Choose one of the following modules. All modules below are worth 10 credits each
- Development Economic Policy
- Experimental and Behavioural Economics
- International Banking and Finance: Regulation and Supervision
- International Trade Policy
- Monetary Policy

Scholarships and Funding
At Birmingham Business School we offer a wide variety of scholarships for our new MSc students in 2023.
These awards are available to both the UK and international applicants and range in value from partial to full tuition fee support, as well as awards of up to £10,000 for our alumni.
