This two-year full-time Comparative Heritage Studies (COHES) MA programme offers a wide range of knowledge on cultural heritage in literature, art, theatre, architecture, urban space, and sites of memory, particularly those found in Krakow and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The COHES programme focuses on the multi-ethnic, multinational, multilingual nature of heritage, approaching it from three angles: Digital Heritage, Visual Heritage, and Comparative and Translated Heritage.
The knowledge gained by COHES graduates will allow them to broaden their understanding of the dynamics shaping heritage in the contemporary world, both in symbolic and material terms. Graduates will be prepared to identify and analyze social, cultural, and political actions that affect the recognition and protection of cultural heritage, as well as its management and education. They will receive qualifications to work in international cultural centers, particularly museums, archival/research, diplomatic, or academic institutes, publishing houses, and libraries. The students are familiarised with various graphical techniques so as to be able to select the ones they find the most appropriate for their own artistic work.

Students will learn about traditional pressing techniques, including wood engraving, linoleum printing, plaster relief printing and tailored printing methods. The aim of the courses it will be to train the students to create their own pieces rather than copying previous concepts. Training will be provided to help the students to aptly consider the two phases of print creation: the matrix and the print itself. The students will be encouraged to synthesize and to simplify their work. Another aim of the course will be to educate the students to use their knowledge to efficiently resolve the creative challenges they face and to make them fully aware of the creative process as a quest as they strive to overcome their limitations. Programme participants obtain the possibility to investigate and learn methods of intaglio (etching and engraving), silkscreen printing, flatbed printing (plate and stone lithography), relief printing (woodcut, linocut) and digital printing. Students participating in the programme will have an opportunity to specialize in unique practices and techniques, namely mezzotint, photo-etching, or collograph. The programme curriculum presents printmaking in agreement with Polish traditions and artistic achievements and encourages contemporary and experimental approaches as well.
